FAP - For a priority in education

The Federação Académica do Porto (FAP) was founded in 1989, emerging as the main federation of students' unions in Porto. Nowadays, FAP has 26 years of existence and counts on 27 students' unions and it assumes the role of coordinating these existent institutions, creating the means for the connection of several associations in Porto.

With a strong relevance in city of Porto and in national higher education politics definition, the most important vector of FAP activity is representing almost 60.000 students of different higher education institutions in Porto. Besides this, the FAP organizes lots of activities for students in order to achieve their interests in sports, cultural and recreational events, volunteering programmes, employability and entrepreneurship activities and so on.

FAP has also an important role in promoting activities with the city hall and some other relevant institutions in the city of Porto, not only for the students but also for the community.

Welcome!

As both President of the Organizing Committee and President of Federação Académica do Porto it’s for me an honor to welcome you to the 7th Floorball World University Championship. From 19th to 24th of July, Porto will be place for players to compete, but also where they can know each other and have fun.

This Championship is a result that could only be achieved through team work: one student’s organization and one higher education institution, as well as the city officials and the Portuguese University Sports Federation (FADU) joined their efforts so that this event could take place.

Cooperation is a value that all athletes do understand, because no one achieves any result in sports by training or playing alone. That was the inspiration by which the WUC Organizing Committee and its members – Federação Académica do Porto and University of Porto - have worked hard so that everything would be in place for all participants, athletes, officials and referees, to have a memorable experience in Portugal.

Federação Académica do Porto aggregates 27 students associations of the region. With 26 years of age, its mission is to represent them as one stronger voice and be the organizing structure of regional university sport championships and many other activities were the scale effect can optimize results. Being a structure were the future plays a central role - because we assume that it is up to us to build the future and to change it - we are tireless when defending education as its solid basis, allowing people to be truly prepared not only to be good workers, but also to be healthy, educated and engaged citizens, and above all so that people can pursuit and achieve happiness, feeling well with themselves and others, the environment and their communities.

We believe sports have a major role driving education to such terms.

With that said, enjoy the games, follow the rules and live this championship with fair-play, in and off the field: if you do so, one will win the gold but all will be true winners. Remember that life is short: seize it, play it, win it! After all, that's what really matters...
